Very comfortable house in a fantastic location. We could not have asked for a better location. After busy days in the park, which is only minutes away by car, it was nice to come back to a comfortable house that was within a couple blocks to great restaurants, shops, and even the grocery store. Since Federal Street is only one block long, it is not busy yet close to everything.

  2. Guests

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The house was clean and very close to everything. We were only a four minute walk from the grocery store and about five minutes from downtown. The beds were comfortable and the house was very well stocked.

Our first trip to Maine and Acadia National Park! Such a beautiful home to enjoy while we explored Bar Harbor and the park. We loved every minute. Beautiful weather every day. We rented bikes for the carriage roads, hiked a few trails, went to Jordan Pond House for popovers, sunset at Cadillac Mountain, whale watching (saw three from a distance), visit to Schoodic to bike the loop (awesome), walked the bar at low tide, and sampled ice cream from nearly every shop. Also made time to enjoy the lovely house and details like vintage dishes and historic prints on the walls. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Thank you for the perfect Maine experience!

This was our second time to Bar Harbor, but first time staying here. It couldn’t have been more perfect. We could get everywhere with less than a five minute walk. Thank you for being our home for the week.

Great location! Within a five minute walk or less to everything! Large house, with tons of space for the whole family. Well stocked kitchen and linens. We will definitely stay here again!

Thank you for letting us stay at your house in bar Harbor. We loved Maine! Our kids’ favorite part was playing on the rocky beaches. Our 6 year old girl liked collecting shells, while our 3.5 year old boy continuously threw rocks! Mom and Dad’s favorite part was… hmmm too much to choose from, but loved biking the carriage roads, swimming in Lakewood, and eating fresh lobsters at Thurston’s. We can’t wait to come back some day!

Great house, great location! Perfect place to relax in downtown Bar Harbor during our family vacation with 3 young kids — even had room darkening shades, little kid puzzles and books, and plastic plates/cups. The historic character of the house was so charming as well! We would highly recommend!

Quiet and Pleasant House Close to Everything: Six of us — three generations — stayed at Federal Street Cottage for a week and really appreciated the house and its location. We were able to walk quickly to the waterfront, good restaurants, the major supermarket, ice cream, the llbean shuttle, and many of the things we wanted to do that either were in or started from Bar Harbor, yet the house and street were quiet and nicely removed from the bustle of Cottage and Main Streets just a block away. The house was pleasantly furnished, with lots of light, had good beds (and pillows), and a well-equipped kitchen. Everything worked the way it should, and we had a good stay. We were initially concerned about the parking because there was said to be room for only one car, but we were able to find on-street parking on the block most days for the second car and also able to pull both into the shared driveway without blocking the neighbor’s access and egress. The house thankfully had AC, which we needed because the temperatures — hot high 80’s to low 90’s — cooled off only very gradually at night. The house dates to around 1915, so the AC was a retrofit, but still worked well. We did learn to close the downstairs vent in the dining room to force more of the air upstairs at night. All in all a very pleasant stay. Would stay there again if heading to Bar Harbor.

Thanks much — it was a really great place to stay — close to everything but also very quiet. And we managed to handle parking with two cars without any major difficulties

Out 5th time to Maine and our daughter and family’s first- we really enjoyed the charm and convivence of 15 Federal Street and the thoughtful outfitting that made our stay easy. Maine is wonderful as always.

  11. Guests from Kansas

Thank you for providing the perfect “base camp” to our Bar Harbor adventure! Three “littles” and three adults enjoyed the comfort of #15 Federal Street for a wonderful week in Maine. As we prepare to head home, our fondest memories include trips to Bass Harbor Lighthouse, Cadillac Mountain, walking the Land Bridge to the island, Jordan Pond hike, Compass Harbor hike, Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, Otter Point, and the Strawberry Festival in Somesville! The Bar Harbor Band, scoops and scoops of ice cream and comfy beds were terrific extras we loved and enjoyed! Great week! Great accommodations! Many thanks

  12. The Schaefer's

This was our family’s first time visiting Maine. Our three teenagers had a great time. We managed to fill our days and take time to just relax. Whale watching was very chilly, but we saw 11 humpback whales who put on quiet a show. Cadillac Mountain at sunrise… no words can describe. We hiked Gorham Mountain and visited Sand Beach two times (brrr), but the kids went in! The location of this cottage is prime! No more than a six block walk for ANYTHING! The space is very nice to have when you stay for a week. We grilled, played cards, watched a movie, and read books in almost every room. The little things have made a difference; a backpack that we took everywhere, the waterproof map…we forgot the one we ordered at home. We didn’t fine the need for the eating establishments until late in the week, but that’s a great touch as well. There are so many places we would love to visit in the U.S., but we all agreed, we would like to come back here some day!

1st time visiting Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park! Now we understand why the people who make the trek from Pittsburgh rave about it! What an absolutely gorgeous place and we’ve only been here a few days so far. This cottage is phenomenal! You have thought of EVERYTHING from the laundry facilities (and detergent), to the abundance of dishes, utensils, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, coffee…I could go on and on. The charm in this home really took me back; having grown up in the northeast it was all so familiar. Actually took my breath away when I first walked inside as it reminded me of my Grandma’s house in so many ways! Very clean, well decorated, and the location is the absolute BEST! Prime property! Thank you so much. We hope we can get back to this beautiful place!

  14. The Smith's

We had a great time in Bar Harbor! Last year we stayed a mile out of downtown but this year was so much better! We loved exploring downtown whenever we liked. Walking the shore path, shopping along Main Street, going over to Bar Island at low tide and eating dinner anywhere in Bar Harbor. We also loved exploring Acadia. We drove the park loop road stopping at Sand Beach, Thunder Hole and Otter Cliffs. We also did plenty of hikes: Precipice, Jordan Cliffs, South Bubble, Jordan Pond Path and Great Head Loop. We made breakfast and lunch everyday at the house but ate dinner out almost every night. Our favorites: Thirsty Whale, Jordan Pond House, Blaze, Route 66 and Mama Dimatteo’s. We loved our stay and will try to come back next year!
