Property Testimonials

  1. Denise, Richard, & Sylvia

Fully furnished, cozy & scenic accommodations have made this a very special family gathering and wedding anniversary (19) for us. Thank you for sharing this special location and an extra round of gratitude for allowing us to bring our beloved dog who was in 7th heaven with all our outings! We hiked up Sargent Mountain & Beech Cliff peaks, toured the Rockefeller Gardens, carriage roads, swam in Long Pond, heard a marvelous string quartet at the Claremont and most important, feel rested and refreshed!

  2. Family from New York

Enjoyed a beautiful week hiking, biking and kayaking. Loved it here!

  3. Family

Almost stepped on the snapping turtle in the stream! We saw a hummingbird and watched a heron fish and our dogs went crazy for all the critters and deer! Thank you for five amazing days of beauty. Brooklyn will be hard to re-enter! With gratitude-

  7. Simon, Emilia, Melissa, Jim

Thank you for letting us stay here. We had a ton of fun and hope to come back. We also loved the location! We climbed Mt. Cadillac and went all around Acadia! Thanks!!

  8. Family and Mr B.

Thank you very much for providing this beautiful cottage for the perfect vacation spot. We saw gorgeous wildlife such as a family of ducks, a loon, an osprey, a hard working beaver building quite a sturdy dam. We used the kayak rental 2 minutes down the road a couple of times and had a blast – both in sunny and cloudy weather! Acadia Park was also wonderful – saw many deer, falcons and one lone raccoon. Bar Harbor is so pretty and has an overall happy feeling to it, especially at night with the lights in town. The peacefulness and calming nature of this place are truly a precious treasure. Many thanks again – take care!

  9. Diane & Allen

We had another great vacation at Somes Cottage. We love the wild life on the pond. We saw the mother ducks and chicks and the loon visited us every evening. What a beautiful setting. Hope to see again next year.

  10. Diane & Allen

Thanks for sharing your cozy cottage. We had a great week. We love nature and saw plenty here. Blue heron, loons, turtles, a mother duck and the little ones and the deer – all right outside the cottage. This is a great place. Hope to see you again next year!

  11. Buddy & Ellen

Thank you for loaning us your beautiful island for the week. Your home is set in the beautiful introspective cove of Somes Pond. It is peaceful, quiet and we enjoyed a most relaxing time. We spent many hours sitting on the deck, enjoying the fabulous scenery. We are not excited about returning to the city life after being part of the calm here. We will miss the quiet. Thanks again.

  12. Family

This cottage made our family vacation perfect. We spent many hours outdoors just exploring the stream and the pond. We rented 2 kayaks for 2 days and went out on the pond. All in all, we really had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back again. In fact, we didn’t want to leave! Thank you very much for a memorable week.

  13. Brad, Jean, Jessica & Christina

Thank you for sharing your place with us. Somes Pond is a wonderful centerpiece for conversation and contemplation before the well-placed picture window. The canoe was an especially valuable asset for nature watching and transport to great swimming spots! We couldn’t have asked for more. This place fulfilled our expectations completely. I hope others enjoy your place and this island as much or more than we did.

  14. Norm & Betty

What a great place for privacy, contemplation and enjoying the Handiworks of God! Beautiful! In two canoe trips: Two bald eagles, three ospreys, on blue heron, one nesting loon, a shy-buck-in-velvet, one chipmunk, a seven count family of wood ducks and miscellaneous small birds such as warblers and waxwings. Crows are omni present and the Maine Welcoming Committee will be here to greet you: clouds of mosquitoes! Maine will “put the bite” on you! Thank you!

  15. Three Families

We had a wonderful time! The weather was awesome. We did a lot of hiking, played miniature golf and age a lot of lobster. Can’t wait to come back again soon.

  16. Family

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage. We just enjoyed the house and property so much – we can’t wait to come back! Take care!

  17. Walter, Susan, Anne & George

We had a great week of hiking, biking, boating and enjoying the sites of Acadia. Weather was perfect, warm enough for swimming (in lakes) but cool in the evenings. It was nice to be away from one of Boston’s hottest weeks in decades.

  18. Family from Boston

We had a good time here on the island.

  19. Judy & Peter

We had a wonderful time. Look forward to returning next year. Thank you!

  20. Guests

This house was absolutely perfect for our family of 4 plus two little silky terriers. We had a lot of fun going back and forth to the swimming cove with our pups. The 4th of July was also very fun and we were very happy to spend it in Maine. Thank you so much for letting us use your house.

  21. Jenny, Karen, Linda & Jeanne

We had such a wonderful time these past two weeks. We have been coming to this area for the past 10 years and certainly this had to be one of our best. Being an avid birder, the loons, eagles, warblers, wood thrushes, hummingbirds and ospreys were a treat – every day. (Even yesterday a great blue heron flew right into the wetlands in front of the house.) The living space in this house made for many laughs and good times, that only embellished our rides in the park and our picnics at Pretty Marsh!

  22. Judy & Peter and Linda & Walter

We had a wonderful time at Somes Pond. This is our third stay at the cottage – each year it’s like coming home. Thank you for sharing your special piece of the world with us. God Bless America!
